Artist: Sherry Owens
Location: Moss Lee Love Garden
Description: Seven, 12 foot cast-bronze trees form a grouping in the Moss Lee Love Garden accessible to the public from the Ticketing/Check-in. The texture of the surface is derived from Sherry Owen's trademark crepe myrtle tree. The artist has created a replica of a WWI flight coat, helmet, goggles, and gloves made out of bronze with a camp stool that is monogrammed with the initials MLL alluding to the Lieutenant Moss Lee Love, for whom the airport was named.
Sherry Owens noted,"So like a view from the window of a plane on the world below, the piece
will stand in the garden in the company of nature; yet give the human experience another level of understanding when it is time to take a moment."
About the Artist: Sherry Owens received a BFA from Southern Methodist University in 1972 and currently resides in Dallas, TX.
