Description:  Three sculptures of life-size figures are flying with turning propellers held between their teeth, suspended in front of a photo mural of similar figures flying in a Texas sunset. The work reinforces the modernization project’s distinctive, contemporary identity for the airport with a touch of whimsy. Dreams of having the innate bird-like ability to fly are common in all cultures. Here we become airplanes. The work will reinforce the modernization project's distinctive, contemporary identity for the airport both during the day and at night.

About the Artists: Simon Donovan & Ben Olmstead have collaborated on over
25 national public art commissions over the last 13 years. Each is a multi-media artist. Their philosophy is to create a distinct sense of place through realized beauty and conceptual relevance. As collaborators they have prospered from an exchange of ideas and technical information and have developed a complimentary aesthetic sensibility.
