Description: A whimsical torus of intertwined fiberglass rods, this sculpture is embedded with approximately 3000 flying objects ranging from modern airplanes and biplanes to birds, bees, and clouds. It also contains small LED chip lights that create atmospheric effects - seven different scenes, two during the day and five in the evening. The overall diameter of the ring is 70’.
The artist, Brower Hatcher notes, “It’s a high energy cycle of dynamic forces passing through rich and colorful zones of experience, creating a compelling metaphor of air travel suspended in the overhead space.”
About the Artist: Brower Hatcher attended Vanderbilt University School of Engineering in Nashville, TN and received his degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in New York. He then studied sculpture at St. Martin School of Art in London, U.K. He has been active as a public art artist for 30 years and has completed many prominent commissions.
