Scope and Limits

This project will construct quality of life improvements on Lemmon Avenue in the vicinity of Love Field. The design and construction of streetscape enhancements includes sidewalks, bicycle paths, landscaping, gateway features, lighting, intersection safety improvements, traffic signals, wayfinding signage, and neighborhood pocket parks. Project limits include Lemmon Avenue from Mockingbird Lane to Shorecrest Drive and Shorecrest Drive from Lemmon Avenue to Webb Chapel Extension. 

Changes and Development 

The Airport Master Plan update identified several quality-of-life improvement projects. Lemmon Avenue Streetscape Enhancements is one of several projects undertaken for the update. 

Deficiencies

There are no deficiencies identified at this time. 

Safety

Intersection safety improvements include:

• Upgrade traffic signals
• Construct pedestrian trails, bicycle trails, and pocket parks
• Construct pedestrian lighting along sidewalks and trails

When completed, this project will be an embodiment of the City of Dallas' Complete Streets and Vision Zero properties.

Purpose

The Master Plan update for Dallas Love Field was approved by Dallas City Council in 2018 and included recommendations for streetscape improvements around Dallas Love Field, based on feedback from residents and stakeholders in the community. The improvements are intended to provide a more walkable neighborhood and improve pedestrian circulation and safety through enhanced pathways and bike connectivity. 

Improvements

Improvements included upgraded street and pedestrian lighting, bus stops, landscaping and gateway features, intersection safety improvements, and other developments to create a safe, walkable, bicycle friendly Lemmon Avenue in the vicinity of the Dallas Love Field Airport.

Environmental

The project is projected to remove 112 trees and replace with 215 trees.

Traffic

There are lane closures on Lemmon Avenue in the vicinity of construction activities. Travelers are advised to pay attention to the construction signs.

Current Milestones

Midway Manor Park is 50% complete, and updated traffic signals and median light poles are currently being installed. Construction has begun on the Primary Gateway Feature (triangle between Lemmon Ave., Mockingbird Ln., and Airdrome Dr.), and there is continuous construction on Shorecrest Drive.
